Poder 3

Poder 3

A better replica of the poder of yester year except for the vest like shirt, which usually used to be made of the thick, white material/cloth of the bag that contained the imported flour… like the Kilimanjaro brand. The staff in his hand too is a bit too arty… the jingling metal pieces used to be inside the slits and not nailed outside.

The Konkani word “poder”, in Goa, originates from the Portuguese “padeiro”. It probably has nothing to do with any surname in western India, where people prefer chapattis to bread… if I am not mistaken.
